Fly sideways by a house at 50% the speed of light

The first thing you'll notice here is that the house is "bent." The bending is due to light reflecting off of different points on the house, and arriving at your eye at different times. The points on the house which are further from you (roof and floor) arrive later than the closest points (mid section).

The more important lesson here comes from the green side. It appears narrower than if you viewed the house standing still. This is called "length contraction," and is one of the most common artifacts of relativity.
