Two Pendulums Pulled Back Different Amounts
A pendulum is simply something heavy tied onto the end of a long string. It can swing freely
from side to side. There are some particuliarities about just how a pendulum swings though.
Take a look at the situation below. Two pendulums have been hung, each on strings about the same length.
The same mass has been hung from the end of each. They are both pulled back and when released,
will swing to the left. As you can see, the right pendulum has been pulled back
farther than the left pendulum. The question is: which one will return
to its starting point first? The left one? The right one? Or will they return at the same time?
